Herald sarà l'unico PDA phone con QWERTY keyboard integrata a slitta (proprio come quella del Qtek 9100, o del più recente TyTN) ad avere dimensioni simili, se non addirittura inferiori a quelle di palmari privi di tastiera. Per intenderci: come il Magician, alias Qtek S100/i-mate JAM.

Herald was the last secret model of the HTC roadmap: now SoloPalmari has three pictures and some details (that a foreign anonymous reader sent... ). Like Qtek 9100 or TyTN, Herald has a sleeve keyboard, but this is much thinner than these models, and even thinner than a normal PDA.

Ed è dalla foto riportata in alto che il fattore forma assume un rilievo fondamentale: nell'immagine Herald viene paragonato proprio ad un Qtek S100, rispetto al quale le dimensioni sembrano effettivamente essere addirittura inferiori: 18 millimetri.

The prototype device in the picture has a 2 megapixel camera, standard memory and a Texas Instruments processor. It's compared with an HTC Magician (Qtek S100/i-mate JAM).

Non sono molte le ulteriori informazioni in nostro possesso: il PDA phone dovrebbe essere dotato di fotocamera da 2 Megapixel, ordinario bagaglio di memoria, e processore Texas Instruments. Le caratteristiche, tuttavia, potrebbero mutare nella versione commerciale del device, rispetto a quelle rilevate nel prototipo.
L'assenza di una fotocamera esterna lascia pensare che il modulo telefonico sia privo di UMTS, ma nulla esclude che il protocollo 3G o addirittura 3,5G (HSDPA) sia effettivamente implementato senza la funzione di videochiamata (scelta peraltro già effettuata da HTC nello smartphone MTeoR).

Riassumiamo, dunque, le specifiche che probabilmente caratterizzeranno il device (giova ripetere che le informazioni in nostro possesso non sono assolutamente confermate da fonti ufficiali):

• Modulo telefonico: sconosciuto
• RAM 64 MB - ROM 128 MB
• Display 2,8'', risoluzione QVGA (320 x 240)

• Spessore: 18 mm

The author says that most of the technical specifications are still undisclosed (perhaps we will know something else in the next hours); it is not even clear which radio module it till contain: UMTS, HDSPA? For sure there's not a camera to use with 3/3,5G communications. Here are the most relevant technical features: Windows Mobile 5.0 CPU: TI OMAP (850?) at 200 MHz RAM 64 MB - ROM 128 MB Display 2,8'', QVGA resolution (320 x 240) miniSD slot (?) thickness: 18 mm
